Final Blog

7th grade Pre-Algebra is almost over! All that is left is the final exam! Answer the following questions:

1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself for Monday's exam?

2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?

3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?

4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not?

1)I didn't start studying for the test but today and tomorrow I have no homework, so I will start studying for the final exam.

2)This year some part was challenging, but mostly it was easier than I thought. My scores are now very different from what I had in 6th grade so I think I tried to do my best but sometimes my tests and quizzes grades didn't come out very well. I could have come in and asked some question in what i don't understand.

3)Since I am not that good at math I think I will have to get ready for Algebra I.

  2. 1) I haven't started studying for the final exam and I am planning to go over the keynotes in the wiki for my review.

    2) Yes and no. It has been a challenging year for me to turn in my homework in time, but I think I did a fairly good job on the quizzes and tests. I could've done my homework better.

    3) I feel confident about my mathematics ability such as mental math.

4.) I did like the Pre-Algebra class this year because we had fun activities for reviewing our tests and etc.

  3. 1. No, I haven't started preparing but I will go over al the keynotes that Mr. Jobe has put up and will review the study guide. I will go over the text book and try the practice problems and go over my old homework.

    2. I think this was a moderate class, not to hard, not to easy. I think I could have study more for tests though because I didn't really do that....

    3. I think my mom will force me to practice math over the summer (haha) but I think I might need to brush up on quadratic equations and maybe some trig (SOHCAHTOA) I usually forget everything over the summer. :)

    4. Yes, I liked math this year. it was funny and interactive and I learned a lot this year. There was a lot of homework though.....:)
    THANKS MR. JOBE~~

  4. 1. I haven't started studying for the finals..... sad.. I am thinking of going over my notes and use all my concentration on the notes because the notes is the part where I have written down all my important stuffs. Since Mr. Jobe put up all the study guides and the answers for each of the sections I could read off by matching the answers with the textbook.

    2. Yeah. Making graphs was the most challenging and also remembering the formula for the area of figures was really hard. Maybe I could study with my friends the finals and test each other for the formula and the graph.

    3. I think that if I have a class with Mr. Jobe on 8th grade I feel that algebra I would be pretty easy to go over. I hope that Mr. Jobe could do the tricycle explaining again.

    4. I likes the pre algebra class this year because Mr. Jobe made the chapters kind of easy to understand because of all of this fun examples. I really like how Mr. jobe teaches the students.

  5. 1) I have already started preparing for the exam by studying chapters 7 through 12. Nevertheless, I am planning to download the Final Exam Study Guide and review every single chapter deeply through past tests and exercises.

    2) The year was not too challenging for me. However, I believe that I could have performed better by participating more and challenging myself for harder questions.

    3) Despite the fact that I am intrigued and feel pretty confident about the upcoming Algebra I course at KIS, I am planning to build my skills. This is because although some people say that studying ahead is sometimes tedious and inefficient, in my opinion it indeed helps you by allowing you to comprehend class matters quickly and advance your skills easily. Accordingly, I am going to study geometry and various formulas.

    4) I really favored the Pre-Algebra class this year. The class was unexpectedly enjoyable due to the humor of Mr. Jobe and other classmates. Thus, I could easily understand concepts from funny explanations and examples. Moreover, the level of the class was neither too easy nor too hard. This is indispensable to the students, because students can easily lose attention if the class is too easy or too hard.

  6. 1)No, I have not started studying for the final exam.I am planning to go over the keynote and solve some problems in some parts that I like.

    2) I think that this year, some parts were hard and easy. I could have done better in tests and quizzes by studying them.

    3) Since I am weak at math, I think that I have to go over lots of things during the summer such as equations.

    4) I liked pre algebra because it was funny and interesting. But I think that there were lots of homework to do!

  7. 1) I have prepared for the final exam. I started from the latest chapter that we learned, and went through the things that are important. Although I'm not finished studying for the final exams, I'm keep practicing and solving problems to prepare for it.

    2) This year has been challenging, it was much harder than last year's math class. I tried my best, but I hope that I didn't have made mistakes during the tests. I could have checked the tests one more time so I didn't have made mistakes for the tests.

    3) I think I will have to practice and prepare before 8th grade, because clearly Algebra I is challenging. Also, it would be easier for me to know things before because I will be able to understand in class without difficulty.

    4) Yes, I always enjoyed having math class because I wanted to improve my math skills more and more. In addition, all the lessons were enjoyable since Mr. Jobe made the lessons exciting with funny examples of the problems.

  8. 1. I haven't started studying for the final exam. I plan to look over all the work sheets and tests I have been given, and look over the tests.
    2. I think this year was sometimes challenging but some chapters were easy. I think in some ways I have performed the best I can. I should have studied earlier and gotten more help from the teacher.
    3. I think it would be good to study math over the summer. I should learn and memorize many math formulas.
4.I really liked pre algebra class this year because I liked the way Mr Jobe teaches. I think he puts a lot of effort on trying to get the students perform the best we can.

  9. 1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself for Monday's exam?
I haven't studied for the final exam yet. I'm planning to review by looking back at my notes several times and try understanding the examples I wrote down during class. If that's not enough, then I'm going to look at all of my tests (especially the ones that I failed) and understand my mistakes. If I don't know why I got something wrong, I can at least ask Mr. Jobe.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?
Sometimes, there were times when I wanted to rip my hair out. Basically, this year was sort of tough. I think I tried my best for every test, of course trusting my skills. If only I studied a bit more for math because I sort of sim through the stuff but don't actually find some stuff that I have problems on. If I have a serious problem doing it, then of course I ask Mr. Jobe. So basically, I should have asked more and more questions on the things I hate and am not sure about.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?
If pre-algebra was a little tough for me, then obviously Algebra I would be my worst nightmare. I thin I should really challenge myself and try imporving my skills in math, but it will be difficult if I had to improve it alone. After all, if I had a question and have no idea how to do some problem, no one will be there to help me because my parents aren't really good at English (especially math words) so I can't ask them to help me. I have no confidence in my math skills because I just know its my worst subject no matter what.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not?
I liked Pre-algebra this year because it was mostly review even though I didn't really know much stuff that time. It was also fun because of Mr. Jobe's random actions. It was pretty funny. The way Mr. Jobe teaches is pretty straight-forward, too. That's why it was fun and pretty interesting.

  10. 1. I didn't start studying for the final exam yet. I will do that over the weekend by going over my notes. I will also solve some questions in the chapter review.
    2. This year wasn't that challenging. I could have talked less in the beginning of the year.
    3. I think I will learn some hard parts of Algebra I during summer.
    4. I liked our class. It was fun although I was a little lonely when I sat at the back alone I think Mr.Jobe taught our class well. Thank you Mr.Jobe!~

  11. 1. I only looked over chapter 7 & 8. I solved the problems I missed in the previous tests. I am going to do the same thing with other chapters and I'm also going to review the keynotes.

    2. Chapter 10 was most challenging chapter for me. Even though you only have to know the formulas of getting area, surface area, and volume, I couldn't pull out the right formula from the word problems.

    3. I think I have to study Algebra 1 over the summer. Even though I felt pretty confident about Pre-Algebra, it would be better for me to know about the subject before I take it.

    4. I liked Pre-Algebra class this year. I liked how Mr. Jobe made the word problems with student's name. I think Mr. Jobe tried hard to teach lots of things in a short time.

  12. 1. Yes, I did start. I am done studying chapter 7 and today I will be studying chapter 8. I am going to go over my tests and also review quizes, worksheets, etc.

    2. For me, chapter 11 was hard. I just memorized the formulas but the word problems were tricky.

    3. I have to go over Pre algebra, and then start looking and going over Algebra during the break. I don't feel confident about going one level higher.

    4. I enjoyed pre algebra, because I think that you made it easier for us to understand circumstances. Thankssss

  13. 1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself for Monday's exam?

Yes, I have started studying for the final exam. I have solved chapter 7 and 8 hard problems from the textbook. And went over the concept again.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?

This year was quite challenging because it was way different from what I learned last year in 6th grade. I could of studied more and went over concepts when I got home.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?

I think I need to go over some skills such as probablility. Even though some people might think it is easy, for me, it is very difficult.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not?

I liked my Pre-Algebra class this year because there was lots of energy into it, MR.JOBE was sooooooo FUUNN and the class environment was perfect.

  14. 1. Yes! I have already started studying for the finals for chapters 7~9. But I am still going to practice more because in math, PRACTICE is the key!!

    2. For me, I think this year had some challenging and easy-going lessons. No, I don't think I have performed the best I could of done so far, but by the end of 7th grade, I hope that I could perform the best I can.

    3. I heard a lot from my brother that Algebra 1 had some really complicated steps to figure out things. Therefore, I think I need to get some help from my brother and preview some Algebra 1 skills!

    4. Of course! I liked my Pre-Algebra class (and still do too) because I got to learn so many things and from your well-understandable-and- funny-explanations,you helped me grasp all the information. :)

  15. 1. I did start studying my final. I just skimmed through my notes that I have taken during class time. I still have to solve more questions.

    2. I think it wasn't that challenging but no that easy. I didn't perform the best I could when I could have studied harder for tests and quizzes. I think I could have studied more for tests that i have not done well on.

    3. I think if I just pay attention during class, I believe that I am going to be able to get good grades during Algebra. However, if I need some help, I think i should get some help.

    4. Yes, I did like pre-algebra class because your explanations were understandable and interesting. Also the questions in problem solvings, I think they were interesting. I also liked the games we played and the reviews we have done.

  16. Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself for Monday's exam?

Yes, I’m studying for the final exam because, as the poster says, ‘Due dates are much closer than they seem’. I have studied up to chapter 5.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?

No, it was rather easy, but I didn’t get good grades because I couldn’t hand in some homework. I could have performed much better if I was more organized.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what skills?

I think I need to review the parts that Algebra will go over. I don’t feel as confident but not as nervous. I think I need to practice on ‘using math in real life’ questions, such as money, probability, etc...

Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not?

Yes! I especially liked my teacher, Mr. Jobe! I was looking forward to a new teacher and fun math classes, and I think that I have had very much of that!

    1) I have prepared for the final exam by picking out at least 10 problems from each section from the online textbook and about 20 questions from all the tests that we have taken.

    2) I don't think that this year was very challenging however I think that I should have come in during my free time to ask you some things that I did not understand.

    3) I think that I need to review on SOH CAH TOA and am also going to take a look at the Algebra 1 textbook online at classzone.com.

    4) I really liked this year's Pre-Algebra class!^^ At first I thought that it would be a hard and boring year because there would be a new teacher but I had a great time learning from you Mr. Jobe. This class was amazing because you didn't just explain the concept and give us work you made Math actually FUN!! I wish I can have your class next year as well.
