Invent a new review game for the end of a chapter. How would it be structured? Would there be a clearly-defined winner? Make sure this game incorporates everyone in the class, where everyone is actively reviewing the material on some level.
We could play math jeopardy. You pick our groups and then you give us a problem to solve. Whichever group gets the correct answer gets a point. Then whoever wins the game GETS CANDY!!!!!
In my old school, we played a game where there the first person answers a question, competing with the person behind him/her. Whoever wins competes with the person behind and keeps on going until there is only one person left who wins. This game will include everyone in class, having a clearly-defined winner and having everyone actively participating and being able to review the material.
We could play a math memory game. There would be an equation and an answer for pair. There could be teams and the team with the most cards wins!!!! The cards could be flipped over and taped on the board and every time it is the teams turn, the people in the team rotate so everyone can get a chance to go to the board and pick a card.
I think that Jessica Oh's math jeopardy would be fun :) You could give us a team to play with. But since you want something that everyone can participate, I think that you should give us time to think and talk with our group members.
I think we can play Around The World, where everyone sits in a big circle and play the game. So one person stands up and stands right next to the person sitting next to them. Then, when the teacher writes a problem on the board, these two people will solve the question as fast as they could with showing the proper work. If the person solved faster than the other person, but didn't get the right step and answer, the other person stands up. So continuing this, the person to pass all the seats and go back to their original seat will be the winner.
new review game: make a bunch of cards with math question in it and give it to each group like 20 cards for each group and then let the teammates to solve the question as fast as they can and at the end of the tim see if who solved most question correctly. If there is a cats game then make them solve the hardest question. And from each group brings out the winner and o the same thing.
We choose a person to give a question and he/she goes around the classroom from person to person. He/she asks a math question that is related to the chapter, and we see how many people got the correct answers and if everyone gets it right, NO HOMEWORK~!!!
In my old school, we would always get a white board and a marker. Then, the teacher would give us the question and we would answer. If their answers were wrong, they would be right. The question would become harder and harder. The game would finish when only one player is left! Everybody can play it and it would have clearly defined winner!
I think that Jessica's Jeopardy game would be fun to play in the class. The idea of getting into groups and solving the question would build teamwork ship and also be fun.
How about there is cards of question which has some of the question that was picked from the textbook. THe teacher could hide the card inside the room and when he says start all the students have to solve at least 3 questions. The teacher picks the first 5 students who solved the questions and then give them some prizes and make the 5 students make a question for the whole students and make them solve it.
My Idea is similar to Jessica Oh's. I want to play jeopardy in groups. You can make categories such as Dividing and Multiplying integers. The team with the most points gets an award.
One of the ideas of the review game can be something similar to a quiz where we answer questions that the teacher gives us. The fastest 5 or 3 people get prizes or have less homework than other people.
This game will be used to mostly everyone that was in KIS for the past 2-3years. This game is called sparkles. It's a game where the teacher askes a question orally and each person goes around answering the question but for this game it is a bit tricky when you have to do it with math. So I changed a little bit about the game. 1.The teacher tells the student to give an addition, subtraction, multiplication, inequailiy, and more types of equation. 2.Without writing it on paper, each person goes around in a circle saying a number or the sign. (For example, the first person says "29" the second person says "is greater to", the third person says "25")But you have to do this quickly and the time limit is 3 seconds. There is no repeat of what the other person said. 3. When the equation is done, the last person to say the equation says "SPARKLE" to the person next so the person who was next to the SPARKLE person is out (sits down). 4. The winner is chosen when there is only 1 person left.
I know this is a bit confusing but thank you for reading.
I did this last year in my math class. It's called Road Relay, and there would be two teams or more. The teams would be the people in columns, which our desks are already formated that way. Then the teacher who is Mr. Jobe in this case would write down a problem/equation/expression or other questions and everyone has to find the answer to the question. Everyone would have small pieces of paper and write the answer down on there. Then the people hand their paper (which has the answer written down) to the person at the way front so that Mr. Jobe can check the answer to see if it's right. The amount of people in the team would be the amount of points your team earns if everyone got the answer correct.
I think that Sarah's idea is a great idea since there won't really be any hard feelings and stuff since you have no other choice but to sit down instead of getting the wrong answer and feeling dumb.
This game is similar to the game we play in my science class. First, the teacher gives us a paper with the same math problems. Then, everyone finds a partner and they find each other one of the answers and then signs the paper. The students find new partners every time to get and give the answer that they think is right. When everyone finishes the problems, the teacher gives the answers to the problems.
I think we can make index cards with problems on it. You can play this game with your partner. First, on the index cards, you write the problems on one side and on the other side, you can write the answer of the problem you made. You can tell your partner to solve it and check their answers.
I like Jessica oh's idea. I like to play jeopardy. and I also think eveyone can enjoy the game. The best thing about this game is that student can learn a lot of thing.
I really like the the idea of Sally (Chung Ah's) jeopardy game!!! I LOVE JEOPARDY WHOO!!! SRY... but what if the jeopardy could be a little bit more different from other jeopardy for example... some prizes...heheheheheh,,,,, jk..
If I had to invent a game in math, I would make a game that everybody will participate actively. I would make a game where the teacher writes a challenging question, and each group show teamwork to solve the problem. However each person should show work by themselves and discuss it with their group.
-also I really like Erika's idea because everybody would participate and there would be no case where others would be left out.
We could play math jeopardy.

ReplyDeleteWe could make a video problem. Flim a video about math word problems instead of reading act the problem out.

ReplyDeleteCaroline's game sounds great!

I like Jessica's idea because jeopardy is known by almost everyone and it is a fun and classic game. People will have a good time playing it.
ReplyDeleteJeopardy is always a fun game- I think it will be an effective way to review stuffs we learned by playing jeopardy.
ReplyDeleteI Like Caroline's Idea because it would include every one and would all be curious of who would win or not! :)
ReplyDeleteWe choose a person to give a question and he/she goes around the classroom from person to person. He/she asks a math question that is related to the chapter, and we see how many people got the correct answers and if everyone gets it right, NO HOMEWORK~!!!

ReplyDeleteI like Jae Hyun's idea because everyone gets to have at least once. It makes the game fair.

Alissa's opinion sounds fun, but the class might be noisy.
ReplyDeleteI kind of like Alissa's opinion~

Personally, I thought Jae Hyun's idea was good to play in class. It gave a chance to every student in the class to participate.

ReplyDeleteI think Sarah Choi's game sounds fun, because it reviews the chapter and is fun at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI think Sally Lee's idea is great, because it reviews a lot of the chapter, while working in groups.

ReplyDeleteI like Jessica's game because everyone know the game jeopardy and it's easy!
ReplyDeleteI think that Elisa's game is good! Because it is fun for everyone!
ReplyDeleteErika's game is also easy because the game is easy to play right in our seats. :)
ReplyDeleteI like Jessica oh's idea. I like to play jeopardy. and I also think eveyone can enjoy the game. The best thing about this game is that student can learn a lot of thing.
